I. INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, as international tourism becomes increasingly popular, serving tourists is not only the responsibility of travel companies but also of service providers in all area of passenger transportation and ground services at airports. Meeting the human resource needs of businesses in this sector, the Aviation and Travel Operations is a field of study that brings many job opportunities to young people worldwide and in Vietnam, too. The program provides students with a broad perspective, including professional knowledge of tourism, transportation, international aviation service operations management, and good career prospects with high-income potential in the future.

The Diploma in Aviation and Travel Operations (DATO) is conducted in collaboration between Pegasus International College  and SISH Institute (Singapore), leading students to a qualification awarded by SISH. This program is designed to prepare students for their careers in the rapidly growing aviation and travel industry. It’s an excellent opportunity for young people who aspire to work in travel and aviation services, , airport check-in and ground services, air traffic control, and airport service operations and become a part of the new workforce generation.

The training program is conducted entirely in English and follows international aviation service standards. Its aim is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of aviation and travel service operations, and to equip them with the necessary professional competencies to cater to the growing demand for high quality work force in the field of travel, aviation, and airport services, both at the operational and managerial levels. The course also offers a multicultural learning environment and work experience with the industry professionals from Singapore and other countries, thereby developing an international perspective for students.

Upon completion of the course, students will be  able to:

  • Demonstrate relevant operational principals in various types of aviation and travel organizations.
  • Organize information for further application or dissemination.
  • Recall real-world problems drawn from the aviation and travel industry by identifying central issues and listing solutions.
  • Demonstrative attainment of prescribed goals through organizing, motivating, coordinating, and collaborating with peers.

II. COURSE INFORMATION 

Course Commencement:2 intakes a year, (i.e. Fall intake in September and Spring intake in March) – official date will be announced.
Duration:15 months (including 6 months of internship).
Class Size:maximum 20 students/class.
Entry Requirements:

·       17 years old and above

·       Completion of Secondary School Qualification (or its equivalent)

English Proficiency:Attained IELTS 5.0 IELTS certificate (or its equivalent), or satisfy SISH’s English proficiency test requirements.
Total Learning Modules:08
Weekly Learning Hours:average 20 hours per week
Total Learning Hours:1,120 hours of contact hours and self-study hours (excluding Industrial Attachment).

Training Approach:The curriculum and pedagogy of the course focus on the development of learners’ skills and competencies so that they can transfer the gained knowledge and learned skills into their performance at the workplace. The method of teaching consists of multiple delivery dimensions such as classroom lectures, group discussions, case study, career preparation workshops, role-plays, individual and group tutorials, presentations, and assessments. Tutorials, both individual and in groups are an essential vehicle for developing each student’s direction.

Qualification:The Diploma in Aviation and Travel Operations is issued by SISH Institute Singapore, with international validity, leading to transfer to the University of West London or a higher level program of SISH.

To graduate and achieve the Diploma, students need to meet the following requirements:

  •  Attend a minimum of 90% of the contact hours for each module.
  •  Attend all assessments and complete the Industrial attachment requirements.
  • Adhere to legal and disciplinary regulations during the course.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations of the organization in which the student interns during the industrial attachment .
  • Any student who drops out the industrial attachment pre-maturely without  valid reasons or who is terminated by the organization on disciplinary ground would be deemed to have failed the entire course and not be able to graduate from the programme.

 

1. What are the admission requirements for the Diploma in Aviation and Travel Services?

  • Graduated from high school or equivalent
  • Be 17 years old
  • Minimum IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
If students do not have an English certificate, they will be tested on their English proficiency level and placed in an English preparatory class before entering the major.

2. If I do not have an English certificate of Ielts 5.0 or equivalent, can I still enroll?

If students do not have an English certificate, they will take an English proficiency test and be placed in a preparatory English class before entering the major.

3. How is tuition at Pegasus Vietnam different from tuition at SISH Singapore?

The Aviation and Travel Services program at Pegasus VN is 64,500,000 VND, at SISH Singapore it is about 13,200 Singapore dollars (including IATA test). So studying in Vietnam is much more economical.

4. With a College degree issued by SISH Singapore, can students transfer to other universities in the UK, US, and Australia?

For the aviation program, currently, students can transfer to SISH Singapore to study for 3 more years to obtain a university degree from the University of West London – England. With this transition program, students will be granted a 3-year study visa in Singapore.

5. What job positions can students work in after graduating?

After graduating, students can take on the following positions:
